Quick Start
Get your first ALIAS virtual card in under 5 minutes. This guide walks you through the complete process from wallet connection to card creation.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Solana Wallet: Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, or any Solana wallet
- USDC on Solana: Minimum $25 USDC (or equivalent in SOL)
- Web Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
Get USDC
If you don't have USDC on Solana, you can:
- Bridge from other chains using Portal Bridge
- Buy directly on exchanges like Coinbase or Binance
- For devnet testing, use the USDC Faucet
Step 1: Connect Your Wallet
- Navigate to alias.cards
- Click "Connect Wallet" in the top-right corner
- Select your Solana wallet from the list
- Approve the connection request in your wallet
Your wallet address will appear in the navigation bar once connected.
Step 2: Access the Dashboard
- After connecting, click "Launch App" or navigate to
/app - You'll see the dashboard with:
- Current balance display
- Card creation interface
- Transaction history (if you have existing cards)
Step 3: Create Your Card
Standard Card (Recommended)
For most users, the standard flow is fastest:
- Select Amount: Choose from preset amounts ($25, $50, $100, $200, $500) or enter a custom amount
- Choose Payment Method:
- x402 (Recommended for desktop)
- Solana Pay (Better for mobile)
- Complete Payment:
- Review the transaction details
- Click "Create Card"
- Approve the transaction in your wallet
- Get Your Card: Card details appear immediately after payment confirmation
Card Details
Your card will have:
- 16-digit card number
- Expiration date
- CVV code
- Billing address (US-based)
Privacy Card (Advanced)
For anonymous transactions using zero-knowledge proofs:
- Enable Privacy: Toggle "Private Payment" before selecting amount
- Choose Fixed Amount: Privacy requires fixed amounts ($25, $50, $100, $200, or $500)
- Complete Deposit: Follow the deposit flow
- CRITICAL: Save Your Note:
- You'll receive a secret recovery note
- Write it down immediately
- This note cannot be recovered if lost
- Wait for Mixing: Funds mix in the privacy pool (may take a few minutes)
- Withdraw Anonymously: Use your note to withdraw and receive a card
Save Your Note
Privacy notes are NOT stored on our servers. If you lose your note, your funds cannot be recovered. Always save it in a secure location.
Step 4: Use Your Card
Once you receive your card details:
- Save Securely: Store card details in a password manager
- Add to Services: Use the card for online purchases:
- Enter the 16-digit card number
- Add expiration date and CVV
- Use the provided billing address
- Monitor Usage: Check your dashboard for transaction history
What Happens Behind the Scenes
When you create a card with x402, here's the flow:
- Payment Request: Your browser creates a payment transaction
- Wallet Signature: Your wallet opens and asks you to approve the transaction
- Blockchain Confirmation: The signed transaction is sent to Solana for confirmation
- Card Creation: Once confirmed (usually under 2 seconds), your card is created immediately
Your wallet handles all the technical details automatically—you just approve the transaction.
Troubleshooting
Transaction Failed
- Insufficient Balance: Ensure you have enough USDC + SOL for gas fees
- Wallet Rejection: Try approving the transaction again
- Network Issues: Check Solana network status
Card Not Appearing
- Wait for Confirmation: Transactions may take 1-2 seconds to confirm
- Refresh Page: Sometimes the UI needs a refresh
- Check Transaction: Verify on Solana Explorer using your signature
Privacy Note Lost
Unrecoverable
Privacy notes cannot be recovered. This is by design—no one, including ALIAS, can access your note. Always keep multiple backups.
